Scientific activities

Indrė started her research activity during her PhD studies, when she was studying the links between immovable cultural heritage and sustainability, and the possibility of determining the economic value of even those heritage objects that are not traded on markets. Since the beginning of her scientific career, Indre has written more than 100 different scientific articles, focusing on the development, sustainability and aesthetics of landscapes, cityscapes and architecture. Recently, she has developed an interest in artistic research, where new knowledge is created not only through scientific methods, but also through artistic expression. Indrė also supervises doctoral dissertations, is a member of the editorial boards of several scientific journals and contributes to the organisation of scientific events, implementation of research projects. In addition to her scientific activities, Indre has been teaching various study modules to undergraduate and postgraduate students and PhD students, including History of Architecture and Cultural Ecology, for over a decade.

Artistic research

Recently, Indrė has become interested in artistic research - the possibility of creating new knowledge through artistic expression. She supervises PhD students of the joint VDA - KTU Art Doctorate of Architecture, and has conducted several artistic experiments with colleagues using Artificial Intelligence. In 2022, in collaboration with Kaunas 2022 (Kaunas Capital of Culture), together with architect H.A. Dogan, Indre conducted artistic research and created digital art for the communities of Panemune and Kulautuva in the projects "Artistic Interpretations of the Spirit of Place of Panemune Using Artificial Intelligence" and "Artistic Interpretations of the Spirit of Place of Kulautuwa Using Artificial Intelligence". Two exhibitions were presented: in the Panemune community space "Kinas" and in Kulautuva, in the open space next to Acacia Avenue. The long-term outdoor exposition in Kulautuva is included in the route of Kaunas district art objects "Emerald Way". In 2023, together with architect H.A. Dogan, Indre organised a digital art exhibition "Laisvės Avenue: Creative Documentation of Architecture by Means of Artificial Intelligence" at Caffeine Cafe, Vilniaus St. 3, Kaunas Old Town. 15 digital works on the theme of the facades of Laisvės Avenue were presented. Subsequently, the works of this exhibition were displayed in the library of the Faculty of Construction and Architecture of Kaunas University of Technology from 20 January to 30 June 2023.
